BTF Planning Awareness Centre

Purpose

This site has been developed to create greater awareness of current planning application which need the attention of BTF and are in a state where they can be commented on. We also need better awareness of what actions BTF members are undertaking.

Functions and content

The site allows planning applications to be selected by ward, by application type, by status and by the date of notification. The list of selected applications shows what kinds of application there are, their application status, proposals and whether they contain documents pertaining to trees or BNG. From the list you can select an application of interest to view the application page containing, in addition to application details:
Vistors to the site can report on their actions and authorised users can load applications and promote an application to the BTF Planning Portal

Updating

Unfortunately the process of adding new applications from the BCC Planning Portal cannot be fully automated so human action is required. Currently the approach is for an admin to save and load the weekly list of applications validated in the previous week.
There is also an automated task to update the decision of applications which is run every night.

Development

This is a new website and we are working to improve it in two main areas: in the provision of information to assist selection of applications worthy of attention; and guidance on what to look for and how to respond to specific application types. See Work to do for a detailed list of tasks and issues.
