Damage to base of tree is attributed to strimmer damage. Thanks to a number of objections, the decision was made to require a replacement Sorbus.

The Tree is in a small garden set back from the road. The base of tree is badly damaged (how?) -see photo

This is a rather lonely tree in the corner of a bleak car park. Just the sort of place where a tree should be. No reason for its felling is given - nor does one have to be given with current legislation, sadly. Is it being felled because it is in the way of some future development? Were that to be the case then it would have to be replaced somewhere, and perhaps by more than one tree. Something to keep an eye on.
