It is always a shame to lose a mature large tree in a Conservation Area and at a time when we need more trees, not fewer. No reason is given for the felling of the Holm Oak - though I know that under the deficiencies of current regulation no reason has to be given.
The tree is in a back garden, although, because of the way the area has been developed for residential accommodation, the tree is visible to quite a few members of the public who occupy and/or visit the houses behind the Applicant's property. Are there sufficient numbers of people who enjoy the amenity the tree provides to be able to justify a TPO? That is a question for the LPA Tree Officer to ponder and decide upon.
