It is a great sadness to note that this landmark tree will be lost.
Over zealous reduction 14 years ago seems to be to blame - reduced the tree's capacity to resist infection. Many pruning wounds of old are decayed - presumably the pruning let in the infection.
What's that song now? "When will they ever learn?"
