There have been several attempts to get rid of it, or reduce it to such a size that it would die anyway. I am no structural engineer, just someone who likes trees and values their environmental contribution, such as making oxygen for a start. Could the Tree Officer please make sure that he is confident that the tree is the cause of the damage? It is a long way from the house. The roots are going to be pretty small that far out. I know in the past that BCC has commissioned their own examinations when subsidence has been alleged for example.
