BTF response:
NEUTRAL
No expert evidence has been submitted that this Ash is infected with Ash Dieback (ADB) or that there is a health and safety risk arising if it is.
Too often recently allegations of the presence (or even the threat) of ADB are being used as an excuse to remove an unwanted tree. The Local Planning Authority should make it clear that, in the absence of such evidence, applications such as these will be refused.
In any event, the applicant should be encouraged to replace the tree if they are permitted to remove it.

The applicant has not provided any evidence or arboricultural report to support thestatement that the tree is suffering from Ash Dieback and is structurally unsound as a result.
In winter, it is hard to determine whether the tree is indeed suffering from dieback, unless thedamage is extreme. Thus it is not likely to be possible for the Arboricultural Officer to determinethe validity of this application
The applicant should resubmit with a proper report and accompanying photographs
