Comment:

Ash trees support a wide variety of nature, including owls, bats and woodpeckers, all of which are found in the local area. They also support a wide variety of insects - an important food source for the local bird population. I would question whether the health of this tree could be revived through sensible care and pollarding rather than resorting to felling such a valuable asset to the area. If the Council provides permission to fell this tree, the applicant is obliged under the Bristol Tree Replacement Standard to replace the tree with a species of equal value to the area and its biodiversity (preferably a native species), planted in a suitable location to ensure full health and longevity.
