OBJECT
This is a significant tree in the street, with considerable visual impact and a major contribution to the character and amenity of the local area.
There are allegations that it is causing damage. Is the Tree Officer able to confirm this? Are there remedies other than felling it?
Gateposts and driveways can be rebuilt and repaired and tree roots accommodated - trees take a long time to grow.

The T1 Lawson Cypress needs to be felled. Not only is it damaging the driveway andgatepost of No.7, the roots of this tree have caused damage to the main sewer drain from myhouse, No. 5.The roots of this tree are at the level of my main drain. I notified the owner of No.7 some time agothat the roots of this tree had penetrated the drain, causing blockage and back flow of water duringstorms. As a result of the damage, parts of the drain are now broken. I have been waiting forremoval of this tree in order that my drain can be repaired.
The person who has objected to this application does not live in Southfield Road. This is not asignificant tree and there are many superior trees in neighbouring gardens and along either side ofthe road. Removal of a tree causing damage will not have a major impact on the environment.I should point out that a tree was recently removed from the back garden of a house across theroad without any good reason. It has been replaced by a parking area which is unused.
