Once again, a developer has ignored the Individual tree habitat on the proposed development site. On the information available, we calculate that there are eight trees on site, of which one, T3, will be removed. Under SADMP DM17 & BTRS, two replacement trees will need to be provided. This appears to be provided by the onsite planting proposed. Under the Statutory Metric, the onsite baseline area of the Individual trees habitat is 0.0326 hectares of which 0.0285 hectares will be retained. On the basis that these are in moderate condition and of low strategic significance, this habitat has a baseline habitat value of 0.45 habitat units. When this habitat is included in the Statutory Metric calculation, the projected area biodiversity net gain reduces to 453.45%, not 3,417.85% as the applicant calculates.
